ABOUT

Alexander Sheversky was born in Kishinev, Moldova, in 1961. He studied at the prestigious I.E. Repin Academy of Art, where he received a classical European art education. After graduating, Sheversky worked in the field of Monumental Arts, honing his mastery of large-scale compositions. Over the years, he has exhibited internationally, and his paintings can now be found in private and public collections around the world.

"When the morning sun shines through my window and illuminates the objects in my studio, it brings with it a sense of happiness — life has arrived. Every morning, I wait for this moment. Yet time passes quickly, and soon the sun moves beyond the building, leaving me alone again. Without the light, it's not as joyful to work, and my mind drifts back to my childhood, so full of sun and brightness. I was born into a family of artists, my first teacher was my father. Just like him I try to keep the traditions of old masters — Vermeer and Rembrandt.

Educated within the rigorous tradition of the European academic system, my paintings are the result of spiritual reflection on the world and humanity's place within it. The harmony between perception and execution gives my work its sense of completeness. Through my paintings, everyday objects and simple forms are transformed — revealing spirituality in simplicity, and simplicity within complexity."
