Commissions
Alexander Sheversky invites collectors to consider the possibility of exploring their own submissions for commissions that reflect your own unique tastes as much as cater to objectives you might have for your personal collections. For these purposes the artist will make himself available to sit down and discuss in detail the nature of the proposed commissions that reflect both the personal ambitions and fashionings desired in the final canvas.
It must be remembered that the commission is an inherently classical approach to capturing noted people and captivating objects in peoples’ lives. Alexander Sheversky draws upon a great Old World tradition that is especially inspired and technically-motivated by the Old Masters of the northern European Renaissance. The Dutch masters in particular, with their realist brushstrokes and revolutionary lighting techniques, spelled out the basis for the portrait and still life that continues to this day.
Commissions include and are not limited to such subject matter as traditional portraits, still lifes, general figurative works, and other compositions the collector sees as being benefitted by the technical strength of contemporary realism.
With regards to traditional portraits there is an enduring sense of legacy and importance that is gained from the acquisition of a painting that reflects the likeness of an individual captured in a moment in time. Since time immemorial the portrait has represented a time-honoured tradition of capturing the distinction of a family member, loved one, or business partner. The process itself is very special as witnessed by the inherent interaction between the artist and the sitter. The artist’s ability to discern and capture the character, mood, personality and emotion of the sitting individual is a central draw that is unique to a portrait commission. Whether the choice is to render a composition that strikes a more posed or less formal tone, Sheversky, nevertheless, will present a highly-polished photo-realist style that is breathtakingly compelling and invites the viewer to connect with the person portrayed.
Still lifes also offer collectors an opportunity to choose a final subject matter that is representative of captivating objects and favourite heirlooms from their own lives that they are passionate about. For example, a collector’s favourite flowers, wines or champagnes, and are all possible objets d’art that would become their own masterpieces captured in oil on canvas. Working with the artist collectors can conceptualize and piece together a still life that is beautifully rendered and symbolizes their passions and outlooks.
Indeed, we promise that commissioning Alexander Sheversky will be a monumental experience that will lend a distinct acquisition to your collection.
